As we get older, we begin to realize Mama wasn't kissing Santa Clause! And although it's quite a relief to know your dearest mother is still as saintly as you had hoped, it dawns on you: All of the holiday hooplah is all one big...fat...lie! What can I say? Life's tough. But...we get used to it; you know, not writing to the big guy for lavish gifts. We learn that it's better to give than receive, and that sometimes there are more important things to consider, liiiiike...the recession. Yet, sometimes I find myself writing that 'obligatory' list even at my age...just for fun (out of habit?!). I make my own list and check it twice. If you're still receiving gifts it can't hurt. In fact, I find that it makes it easier for your family & friends. They know exactly what you're into for the year...ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU purposely POST THE LIST SMACK-DAB ON YOUR VERY OWN BLOG! (cough-cough)
